Getting ready to travel

Janice and I are getting excited about our trip to Australia.  We set off in less than two weeks time and stop over in Hong Kong for three nights enroute.

Our itinerary is only pencilled in but we will arrive in Brisbane, then fly up to Cairns, then fly down to Sydney.  After a week in Sydney we will probably hire a car and drive to Mellbourne for Christmas and New Year, staying with Janice's friend Marg and family.  In the New Year we will drive the Great Ocean Road to Adelaide to visit my cousin Jack and his wife Jill, at One Tree Hill!  No jokes about 'fetching a pail of water' please....I'm saving them for later.

We fly from Adelaide back to Melbourne for our flight home, with a 3 night stop at Kuala Lumpur on the way back 66 days after we started.

I think we have most essentials ready for our trip....

Perhaps I am over prepared!

We are certainly looking forward to some Aussie culture....certainly beaches, BBQ's and plenty of 'tinnies'.  That may be enough culture for us after our recent tour of English National Trust properties.  Do you think my NT membership might extend to Australia although I don't think they will have too many stately homes down under.

Not really too sure how it will feel when we arrive.  Hot for sure, there could be rain, especially when we go up to Cairns.  I will always default to my philosophy of ' Wherever you go, there you are' meaning.......I'm not trying to explain all that again.

So, I will wrap up now till we actually start our travels.  Please feel free to sign up for email updates from the blog page.  By the way,  I am not writing this blog for any of the readers I am writing it to supplement my poor memory in old age. Please remember this when you tire of my waffling and don't be too cruel.

  1. I'm not certain Australia is ready for this member of the Vernon family, but I'll certainly enjoy trying to drink the local wine from where ever you are. Starting with Chinese!
