Brekkie, Tinnie and a Barbie.

Thursday 1st December 2016

Wow it's December already.

We had our brekkie which has become a bit of a routine now.  We have a bowl of sultana bran with some sliced banana.  The bananas have a slightly thicker skin than the ones we get back home.  Still very tasty.

After a morning swim we went for an explore.  What we found was wonderful.  The beach was stunning.

The beaches are pretty quiet.  It is actually the low season in Northern Queenslans. The apartments are half empty.  It is the start of the rainy season but the rains haven't arrived yet.  The beaches are quiet except for the safe swimming zones which are barriered and netted off.  It's not to stop sharks but it is to stop deadly jellyfish.  There are some tiny ones that are the most lethal.  We managed a paddle.

From this area we saw our first turtle in the water.  It was pretty hot but we were mad dogs and continued our walk in the midday sun!

This is Anzac Park with a memorial to dead soldiers.  One was called W. Kidd, maybe related to Janice, or was he Billy the Kidd?

On the way back I tried my hand at a didgeridoo...Rolf Harris eat your heart out....whoops, I promised I wouldn't mention him!

In the afternoon we were back poolside and it was time for a tinnie.  Later we took advantage of the barbie facilities and had my first taste of kangaroo!

Very nice and lean.  Probably not the last barbie we will have.

I forgot to mention that we have booked our Barrier Reef snorkelling trip for tomorrow.  We are very excited.  It is probably the 'must do' trip of the entire holiday.  We will report on how it went tomorrow.
