Double dip recession.

Thursday 22nd December 2016 - to Inverloch

We had really enjoyed our stay at The Riversileigh Hotel at Bairnsdale.  Perhaps it was our favourite hotel because of its character.  It further enhanced its appeal with the quality of the brekkie. There was fresh fruits, yogurts, cereals and a wide selection of breads, including crumpets.  There were proper jams and marmalade and a good coffee machine.  As a novelty there were some old magazines on a coffee table...

Janice is catching up with the latest celebrity gossip in the women's mags!  The magazine is dated from 1940.

We checked out but decided to have a walk by the River Mitchell and then back through the town.  On the way back we called in at an older building that we understood was The Old Court House...

We thought it was now an art gallery but we were mistaken....is was still a Court House.  It was a good job a case wasn't in progress.  There were a couple of policemen waiting in the room.  The accused can be seen in the photo above sitting on the bench outside talking to a solicitor.  This photo is of the inside of the courtroom, quite old fashioned.

We wished the policemen the best of luck with the case.

We drove southwards and decided to find a beach for a swim.  We took a left turn to Woodside Beach without any idea what we would find.  It was an isolated beach at the bottom end of Ninety Mile Beach.  Here's a quick photie.

This is me drying off with my 'beach towel'.  It's a bit of a family joke that we can dry off with a flannel.  I proved it again today!

Our next stop was Port Albert.  It was the original port for Victoria up to and including the Gold Rush but it was a quiet little place now.  A good spot for lunch....

Next was Port Welshpool which we were informed had the longest pier in Victoria.  I don't dispute it but no one told us that it was closed off and in some decline.  It was very long though!

There was nothing else at Port Welshpool.

Inverloch is on Venus Bay and was a nice town on a nice beach with good views.  The motel accommodation was good too...but no breakfast included.  We had a look at the beach and I decided to have another swim, hence the 'double dip' but no recession.

Are all the beaches starting to look the same?  Big and golden with no one one them.  Yep!

This is our last day before we arrive to see Marg in Melbourne.  The Christmas weather forecast is good, maybe too good.  It has been up to a max of 22 degrees today, mixed cloud and sunny spells but tomorrow will be up to 28, Christmas Eve will be 30 and Christmas Day should be 35 degrees, hecky peck, I don't know if I can manage.  I will try.  I just need to remember to keep myself hydrated!

Just before posting the blog I watched a YouTube clip of Sir Les Patterson, the Australian Cultural Attaché (aka Barry Humphries).  He told a joke about two Tasmanians walking on the beach.  A seagull poops on one of their heads.  The other Tasmanian said, 'do you want some toilet paper' the other said 'no, it will be miles away by now'!  I laughed till I cried.  That reminds me, I feel a bit remiss that I haven't mentioned Dame Edna Everage on the blog yet.  I'm sure I'll find some way of including her soon.  On that note.  I will conclude the blog.  Good night!
