Bringer of bad news!

Saturday 14th January 2017

I am not normally the bringer of bad news but I have had to break things slowly to Jack and Jill.  They live very rurally and Australian news doesn't always cover the same news as the UK, so, I have had to tell them that various people have died.....Terry Wogan, Joe Cocker, Cilla Black, Acker Bilk and Ronnie Corbett.  They knew about David Bowie and didn't seem to care about George Michael!  I'm not too insensitive so I tried to sweeten the news by mentioning that Bruce Forsyth is still alive despite looking like he's been dead for about 5 years!

Today was a cool day so we worked out a driving route with some stop offs.  Our first visit was Mount Lofty.  It made me think of 'It ain't half hot mum' the TV comedy set in India during the days of Empire.  The small tubby soldier who could sing was called 'Lofty' because he was so small.  He was such a 'lovely boy'.  The comedy never gets any repeats, I suppose it is not politically correct.  Most funny programmes of the past can't be played anymore....it's a bit sad really that all races are so tetchy.

The view from Mount Lofty was a bit misty but we could see Adelaide and the coastline in the distance but it isn't clear on the photo.

Next visit was the Lofty Botanical Gardens, where we saw a couple more koalas and enjoyed a walk.

Janice won this years Silver Globe award for putting up with daft travel bloggers!

I made a friend at the Bierhaus at Lobethal (sounds German as this area was settled by many German immigrants).  Just to be sociable I felt I needed to taste all the beers.  After all I did test the local wines yesterday and I need to be consistent.

I started from left to right.  All were good.

I had to go to the chemists shop to solve a shaving problem.  My electric razor has run out of power so I had to buy a wet razor and cream.  I have previously used the disposable cheap razors and have ended up bleeding all over the place as I drag them around my face.  I decided to get a decent wet razor as advertised by Saint David Beckham!  I like to have a 'dig' at David every blog and this one is no different.  He is the most worshipped person in the world (other than his wife) for doing almost nothing.  In fact, advertising razors is probably the only useful thing he actually does!  On this occasion I can be thankful to him because when I shaved later I didn't cut myself once.  I also wonder what David Beckham will do with himself once his body is totally covered by tattoos?

We had another curry meal for tea and watched an Aussie film called Red Dog.  It is similar to the book I read earlier in the holiday about a Red Dog called Blue!  We enjoyed it. We also watched an old episode of QI which included John Sergeant and Jo Brand.  They claimed to be brother and sister but whilst they do like very similar we googled it and found out they aren't!
