Hotter and Wetter in the same day!

Wednesday 4th January 2017 - to Warrnambool

Had an early morning run for the first time this year.  I followed it with a quick dip in the sea....bliss.  We had our cereal at the hostel for breakfast and set off on the relatively short journey to Warrnambool which is probably the biggest town on the route.  First we had to stop at some more coastal views.....

The Arch

And London Bridge

We had a walk along the beach here and paddled as we walked.  The surf was quite strong.  We walked all along this stretch.

We arrived at Warrnambool and headed past Richie's Point and onto the beach for another swim.  The  sun was in the sky and the temperatures were around mid twenties with a cooling breeze from the Southern Ocean.  Here is the last beach photo....

This is Warrnambool Beach, it's pretty packed compared to some of the others but not by my standards.  After lunch we went to find our second AirBnB accommodation of the holiday.  It was billed as a Victorian house in the town and I wasn't sure what to expect.  Well here it is at the front....

The house is immaculate.  We walked through the owners downstairs area and it was pristine with antique furniture all in keeping with the age of the house, built in 1870, so very old by Austrailain standards.  We were staying upstairs....

With direct access out to a patio and beautiful garden with roses and lavender and allsorts of lovely plants.

The owner Jennifer, made us some tea and cake and took an order for breakfast tomorrow including English Breakfast, I'm in heaven.

We decided to have a barbie for our evening meal and walked into town.  We visited a nearby church and listened to a man playing the organ.  Then walked through the Art Gallery (free admission) and enjoyed the mixture of exhibitions and artists.

Then, as we passed a Thrift Shop I spotted the ideal musical accompaniment to our visit to Jack and Jill.....

It's a vinyl 'long player'.  Perfect, I hope Jack has a gramophone?

Then we found an Aldi and bought our food for the barbie.  We also weakened and bought some booze, otherwise the barbie would be too dry.  Our dry spell after New Years Eve only lasted three days.  So the day was hot and wet all at the same time, without any rain.

Ready for the barbie with my beer and Aussie Cricket 'stubby' holder bought for me by Marg on our Test Match visit at the MCG.  Body warning!

The barbie was great.

Lamb and snags!  Snags are sausages in English.
