Yesterday was hot and so was last night, it stayed around 27 degrees into the night. We managed some sleep by having a fan on full in the bedroom. However, this morning was cool and rainy. It rained through till around 3pm when it got pleasantly warm.
What can you do on a rainy day in South Australia. Easy answer......go wine tasting in the Barossa Valley.
Jack had kindly offered to be our driver and Jill came along for the ride.
We were shocked that the wine tastings were free! We tried several wines at each winery. Including
White Sparkling, Red Sparkling, Reisling, Sauvignon Blanc, Pino Gris, Shiraz, Grenache, Cabernet Sauvignon and Temperanillo. Good job we had a driver as we had a breath test at Jacob's Creek.
Lunch was a proper Aussie pie. I had a Ned Kelly pie....it was like a steak and kidney pie with an egg on top.
On the way back we had a couple of stops.....on the first occasion we were on mission impossible to find, not just rocking horse shit but Giant Rocking Horse Shit. Where would you look for it.......behind a Giant Rocking Horse!
We still didn't find any.
Our last stop was at the Herbig Family Tree, where a family lived inside the tree between 1855 and 1860.
Back to Jack and Jill's to recover from the alcohol. We managed a walk in the Parra Wirra in the evening. It is a National Park area in walking distance. The trees and bush were all burned two years ago but are well on the way to recovery. We saw plenty of kangaroos and a couple of fallow deer.
