We had a short drive to the centre of Adelaide to take the hire car back. We had made a plan with Jack for him to park up away from the centre of the city and come and pick us up when we called them. I got to the Thrifty car park, dropped Janice and our bags out on the pavement and I drove up to the fourth storey to hand over the car. I noticed that Janice came up the car park ramp, with two rucksacks, a body board and the big suitcase with a red face. She had realised she had left her handbag in the footwell and was worried I might not see it and hand the car over with her handbag in it! It was good exercise for her to carry our whole luggage up the ramps at speed, I will have to incorporate it into our regular exercise sessions.
Jack and Jill were actually early and so were we. I recognised them even before they pulled up, not bad seeing that we have only ever met once and I didn't have any idea what kind of car they were in.
We drove to their home with is at Humbug Scrub, about 45 minutes north of Adelaide. What a great name for a place, however, it seems that it is not a town, just a location. The nearest town is One Tree Hill.
The house is rather rural and lies within 40 acres of land. It has its own wildlife assortment.
It was lovely to catch up with Jack and Jill and we were quickly introduced to Conan....
Here he is, Conan the Destroyer as he is named by Jill. He damaged her snow peas and she had to have strong words with him. He is also joined by the cockies and a few galahs (grey and red cockies). There are several kangas that come to the back door.
Jack is going to lend us a car for our stay. How kind. I don't think we will lose the car.
In the evening we had a walk around Jack's land. There are three pools, an orchard and sheds. Just over a year ago they had a fire that virtually surrounded the house but amazingly the house and the shed were the only areas that escaped the fire.
